Peers (1830-1908), Clerk of The Court for Appomattox County, lived in this frame house, which was constructed in the early 1850's. From his home, Mr. Peers witnessed the stacking of arms ceremony and formal surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia on April 12, 1865.
